What
We Do
How Your Donations Will Be Used
Your generous donations to the Huntington
Beach Educational Foundation enable us to consistently provide
the resources all our K-8 students need to reach their fullest
potential. Just some examples of where monies are allocated include
the following:
Teacher Grants – These grants give teachers the ability to provide innovative
learning
experiences for our students. One example is our "walk-through" programs
where pupils develop a creative performance in all the facets of a particular
era or event in history. These "walk-through" programs such as a program
on the American Revolution allows the students to "live" the experience
as
vividly as possible, thereby gaining a fuller understanding of the event.
Outdoor Science - For our fifth grade students, the outdoor science program
affords them the chance to spend one full week at Big Bear during the school
year.
Costing $300 per student and run by the Orange County Department of Education,
this wonderful program offers fifth graders the opportunity to immerse themselves
in nature and the "science of the outdoors."
Math Students Program – For our sixth grade students, this excellent program
provides one-to-one tutoring by seventh grade students. The seventh graders use
this program as an elective for their studies, so opportunities for enrichment
and educational growth actually impact all students involved. Monies are used
to purchase materials for this program.
Smart Boards – "Smart Boards" are
electronic white boards (instead
of the older "chalk boards") that function in many ways. For example,
full lesson plans can be projected on the Smart Boards so that students know,
in detail, what is upcoming,
etc. Costs for Smart Boards are minimally $3,000 per classroom.
Staff Development Training – Monies are used to provide our instructors
with
technological and other types of training so that
they are well-equipped with the knowledge needed for the most current
electronic or computerized materials.
