What is the HBEF?

Founded in 1987 the Huntington Beach Educational Foundation is a fund-raising organization for the Huntington Beach City School District. Operated entirely by
Volunteers, our focus is to meets the school districts educational needs by funding
Teacher Grants, Staff Development, Technology, and programs such as Outdoor Science Education.

Public schools are one of the most important parts to any community. One of the main reasons people move to Huntington Beach is for the quality of our schools. In Huntington Beach, we have been able to preserve quality education despite terribly insufficient funding from the state, based on outdated funding systems. This outdated system provides inadequate funding below the state average. As a result The HBCSD has been forced to adjust to years of reductions in funding that have threatened our science, music, art programs, health services, maintenance services to name a few.

The Huntington Beach Educational Foundation (HBEF) believes that effective community support is needed to provide the best educational opportunities for our children. When you make an investment through the HBEF, you’re making a more than a financial contribution, you’re stating that you won’t settle for a mediocre education system in your community. You’re stating, " Our children deserve better". By collaborating with local businesses, local PTA’s, groups, and corporations, HBEF is able to provide the additional support to the schools in the forms of teacher grants and
technology. Thus creating the educational environment that is conducive to success
for all children in the HBCSD.

The HBEF annual "Open Doors" Home and Garden Tour is our premiere fundraising event, happening each May the day before Mother’s Day. Funds from the Home Tour help provide the necessary funds support the many teacher grants that are requested each year. To learn more about HBEF’s Home Tour 2008 and how to be involved...click here.
